Night Photography Workshop Classroom

This three (3) hour studio workshop will cover the basic principles of night photography, exposing, and focusing in the dark.

Photographing the Night…OR Photographing The Light?

Photography is all about capturing light; so therefore night photography is no different! Night photography is just low light photography, which is a unique kind of low light photography that requires the understanding of the manual operation of your camera and the relationship of ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed along with a few tricks and other techniques to obtain the look that you are attempting to achieve.

When it comes to light; an understanding of light is critical. Considerations would be lighting types; color temperature, white balance and also minimizing flare on your lens. Another concern would be the choice of ISO and shutter speeds and how noise or grain may affect your photograph.

These workshops are for EVERYONE who has a basic understanding of the MANUAL exposure control of their cameras. If you are not that familiar with your camera yet then you might first want to take the “Getting To Know Your Camera” and/or the “Fundamentals of Photography 101” workshops that we offer on a monthly basis.

• Digital SLR Camera with different exposure modes, mainly Manual Operation.

• Cable Release or Remote triggers.

•  STURDY Tripod

• Camera Batteries

• Memory Cards

• Possible Lens Warmers

Prerequisites

Familiarity with the operation of your camera and the basic understanding of photographic lighting. Or have taken one or more of our other basic courses
